Experts in Residence at Calgary Public Library
Connecting our community to high-quality arts and culture experiences and the experts who create them.
Calgary Public Library’s Experts-in-Residence Program is a series of short-term, paid, community engagement roles that support individuals and collectives living and working in Calgary and surrounding First Nations communities.
A variety of residencies are offered and filled annually: Children’s Artist/Illustrator, Indigenous Artist, Newcomer Artist, Author, Musical Artist, Historian, Entrepreneur, Storyteller and Indigenous Elder-in-Residence.
Each resident is invited to work in a designated space at the Library and is required to engage with the public through community engagement programs at any of our Library locations or online. Community engagement may include open studio or office hours, interactive workshops, one-on-one meetings with members of the public, school group visits, and public lectures.
Through the Experts-in-Residence Program, artists, authors, and subject matter experts connect with new audiences, share their creative process and knowledge, and receive time and space to create new work. This program allows the Library to provide free opportunities for the public to engage with high-quality arts and culture experiences, and to learn from the people who create them.
Thanks to donor support, this program makes life-changing arts and culture experiences accessible to all Calgarians through the Library.
