Early Learners

“My son made one of his first ‘outside the house’ trips to Bowness Library when he was three weeks old!”

—Sarah, Library patron and donor

Ninety percent of brain development takes place before the age of five. The Library’s free and accessible resources support families as they help their children learn and grow. Healthy development in early childhood sets the course for a child’s future: it leads to kindergarten readiness and prepares children for lifelong learning success. Donor support enables the Library to inspire a lifelong love of reading in its youngest members.

Here is what your gift can provide:

  • $10 can buy one children’s board book. Donor support enables the Library to keep up with the growing demand for high-quality, age-appropriate books.
  • $75 can deliver one online, outdoor or in-person Family Storytime program. Reading aloud together fosters a lifelong love of reading!
  • $100 delivers one class in a Baby Rhyme Time program. This popular program introduces babies to songs, rhymes and stories and fosters connection for caregivers.
  • $500 can fund the delivery of books to a Library Month at Your Dayhome/Daycare location through the Story Truck. Through the Story Truck, donors make the Library more accessible to those who cannot easily visit in person.
