Calgary Public Library Foundation is thrilled to announce the return of the Lit Gala on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Central Library (800 3 Street SE). This year’s theme, “Once,” is inspired by the enchanting world of fairy tales, promising to be an evening of magical experiences and literary celebration while supporting the work of the Library. Event highlights include a silent auction, a Blind Date with a Book activation, and a 50/50 cash raffle, all aimed at raising $750,000 in support of vital programming and resources at Calgary Public Library.
As of August 27, tickets are available at LitGala.ca. Everyone is encouraged to revisit the magic and wonder of fairy tales with the enticing invitation to “go on, have a bite” of the enchanted apple from the well-known fairy tale Snow White.
Calgary Public Library is one of the largest library systems in North America, counting 56% of our community as active members. In 2023, it boasted an annual circulation of 16.3 million items—the highest in its 110-year history. Funds raised from the 2024 Lit Gala will support the critical and life-changing programs and services offered at Calgary Public Library.

The “Once” theme will transport guests into a world of wonder and imagination, reflecting the magical journey that reading takes us on. At the Lit Gala, Central Library transforms from tip to tail into an outrageously exciting premier party venue, with Calgary’s finest food, beverages, and entertainment on offer. It’s an evening that will live on in your memory happily ever after.
