Library Store, the Calgary Public Library Foundation’s innovative social enterprise, is thrilled to announce several new local partnerships rolling out over the next few months. With so many talented artists and makers in our city, Library Store is happy to supply locally-designed products that reflect the people who call Calgary home.
Rachael Meckling, a Jill of All Trades, began her career as a fine artist and fashion illustrator. She continues to create with inspiration from the divine beauty of nature, the energy of fashion and the power of the iconic female form. Rachael has created four custom illustrations for Library Store, each depicting her interpretation of a great female literary icon. These illustrations are available on Library Store in print, greeting card and tote bag form.
The Library has had a profound impact on the trajectory of Rachael’s life and career.
“Libraries are a necessity in a growing child’s life. I spent about 3+ hours there every week when I was young, and here I am, a full-time illustrator, with children’s books being the #1 influence in my life.”
We are thrilled to partner with such a tour de force in the local art world to support valuable library programs and services.
