On September 30, our son Alessio would have turned five.

Some of our sweetest memories with Alessio happened during storytime. Books gave us a place to laugh, cuddle, imagine, and simply be together. That is why, for the third year, we are supporting Calgary Public Library Foundation’s My First Bookshelf program, operated in partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, in his memory.

Through My First Bookshelf, children in Calgary receive a free book every month to build a library of their very own, helping nurture a lifelong love of reading.

Just $82.80 provides 12 books, a full year of reading, for one child through the My First Bookshelf program.

With 370 children currently on the waitlist, our goal this year is to raise $5,000, providing a full year of books for 60 more children.

Thank you for helping us honour Alessio. Whether you knew him personally or came to know him through us, it means so much that you remember him alongside us. He will always have a special place in our family, and we are grateful that the joy he found in storytime can continue to be shared with other children.

With love,

Cassandra, John (Alessio’s parents), and Dante (Alessio’s little brother)
