Immediate impact. That’s the effect of donor support for The Fifth Book Campaign. Thanks to our community, another $100,000 has been given to Calgary Public Library to add more books to its collections. This would not have been possible without the generosity of donors to Calgary Public Library Foundation.
We’re now 20% to our goal of raising $1 million for Calgary Public Library’s collections, which will help the Library keep up with demand brought by record-breaking growth and rising costs.
- Already, these gifts have purchased 4,000 physical and digital books for the Library.
- New ebooks added in May (thanks to your support!) have already been checked out more than 7,000 times.
- Digital titles are often the most expensive items on the Library’s shopping list. Thanks to donor support, there are 377% more ebooks in the Library’s “first-come, first-served” Skip the Line collection compared to last year, and checkouts of these titles have increased by almost 100%.
Donors are helping the Library meet the needs of the community, providing access to the stories Calgarians deserve—and Calgarians are devouring those stories faster than a bucket of Stampede mini-donuts.
If you haven’t contributed to The Fifth Book Campaign yet, there are many ways to show your support—give a gift, name a bookshelf at your favourite Library location, host a used book sale, or like and share our posts on social media. Every action you take brings us closer to our goal, and brings our community closer to lifelong literacy. Thank you!
