The COVID-19 pandemic has had a widespread effect on the overall mental health of our community, and many already suffering are finding it increasingly difficult to cope.
In October 2020, the Library launched a pilot program to bring trained social workers into the Central Library to provide mental health and wellness support. The Wellness Desk, which is held in partnership with Wood’s Homes and supported by the Government of Alberta, City of Calgary, and RBC Foundation, minimizes barriers to mental health support, allows Calgarians to discover and better navigate services available, and empowers caregivers and those wanting to learn how to best direct loved ones to the right services.
