Webinar: Library Collections Uncovered
Join us for a free webinar on Wednesday, May 7 to explore how Calgary Public Library curates its collection and the mounting challenges it faces in doing so.
This webinar is part of The Fifth Book Campaign, which draws attention to a growing reality: the average cost of a book has increased by 20% since 2019. That means for every five books the Library could once afford, today it can only purchase four. At the same time, demand is surging—an average of 425 new members joined the Library every day in 2024.
Members of the Library’s Collections team will share how they navigate these pressures to ensure Calgarians continue to have access to diverse, relevant, and responsive materials. You’ll gain insight into the art and science of how books are chosen, how trends are tracked, and why philanthropic support is critical to making sure everyone has access to the stories that matter.
Everyone is welcome. Please RSVP below.
